Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”.

As a digital marketer (especially if you are just starting), we have to manage lots of things. You have to create content, publish them, work with the team, do different meetings, and with all that, you also have some goals that you want to achieve. Then you have your family, friends, your ownself
urgh!! SO MANY THINGS.

And so if you don't find the proper balance to do all that, you will feel pretty frustrated and overwhelming. So, what is the best way to balance your life you ask? The answer is
PLANNING!

Yeah, sounds so simple right?😅 But planning is a crucial part of life. It's not just in digital marketing, it is important in every aspect of life.

Although this article is about how to plan as a digital marketer, let me show you why it is so important (in brief):

  1. Planning increases the efficiency of an organization.
  2. It reduces the risks involved in modern business activities.
  3. It helps to organize the resources of a business.
  4. It gives the right direction to the business.
  5. It is important to maintain good control over your business.
  6. It helps to achieve the goals more easily.
  7. It motivates the members.
  8. It encourages managers to be more creative and innovative.
  9. It also helps in decision-making.

(There are tons of other benefits of it. But I feel like you know why it is important..so let's not waste more time here 🙄)

1. Write Down Your Goal

When people start the journey of digital marketing, they often have a lot of plans. They want to achieve many things. But they don't write down their goals.

So what happens is when they start the business, they have to manage lots of things. They have to care about their team, profits, products, audiences, and sometimes they have to care about the legal stuff too.

And in the process of doing that people forget many of their goals. The dreams just stay as dreams. Never becomes a reality.

So, what should we do then? See, Once you’ve decided on your goal, write it down. A study stated that simply writing down a goal increases your likelihood of achieving it by 42 percent
42 PERCENT!!

But before writing it down begin by picturing your goal. See it in your mind
feel it, taste it. Now capture it in as much detail as you possibly can, using the S.M.A.R.T. formula:

  • Specific: This is the “who, what, when, where, and why” of your goal. Describe exactly how you define success, and the actions you’re willing to take to achieve it.
  • Measurable: After you have specifically defined your goal, how will you measure your progress? What are the metrics that will show your progress? Based on what you will define the success or failure?
  • Achievable: Do you have the skills you need to reach your goal? If not, can you acquire them? This is not meant to discourage you; rather, it should motivate you to set realistic goals, and seek out help if needed.
  • Relevant: Is this goal really what you want? Does it fit with your long-term goal?
  • Time-bound: When will you complete your goal? Without a deadline, there will be no sense of urgency. Setting a time limit motivates you to act now before it’s too late.

2. Divide Your Goal Into Small Tasks.

Having an ultimate long-term goal is the best! But it is sometimes overwhelming. It may seem impossible at first when you are just started. And that is the point when people give up.

That is why it is crucial to divide your big task into small chunks. Small attainable goals will be easier to achieve and it will give you a sense of accomplishment after you achieve them and will motivate you to go further ahead.

If your goal is to have a successful business in two years, where do you need to be in one year? Six months? Next week?

Create a plan that divides your goal into small steps. Write down each step and set a deadline. You can apply the same techniques that I have covered above.

That way, you’re not going to be overwhelmed by the big task, you will be able to focus on completing the small task. Each day, you know what you need to do that day and why.

3. Share Your Plan

After you have made a long-term goal. Try sharing with your friends and family. They can be a good way of accountability. Many of them might even be interested in working with you!!

But be aware of the fact that not everyone deserves to hear your plan. There are people who know nothing about anything but want to give their opinion on everything. 😑

But that doesn't mean that you will not share your plan with anyone. It just means that you have to be aware of some people. Again there will be people who will not just motivate you towards your goal, they will even join with you to help you reach your goal.

4. Track Your Progress.

In business, tracking your progress is crucial.

Let's say, You have made a long-term plan. You have divided your plan into small tasks and you are constantly taking action.

But if you are not reviewing your action, if you are not measuring your progress, how will you know if you are moving in the right direction (towards your goal)?

So as you complete each ‘chunk’ of your plan, take a moment to recognize the milestone. It’s an opportunity to celebrate your progress and review your plan: Is it still practical? Are there any adjustments you need to make? Refocusing on your goal will remind you of why you started in the first place, and give you a much-needed boost of energy.

See, planning is no good if you never look at it. To stay on track, be sure to review it regularly.

Read your goal aloud every day, preferably as soon as you get up in the morning. It’s a great way to set your intention for the day and keep your focus where it belongs.

5. Reward Yourself.

After doing lots of work, making a plan, breaking it into small tasks, then taking actions to achieve that goal, tracking your progress, now it is important to give yourself rewards.

Reward helps us to emotionally satisfy ourselves and push us further
unless you are a robot 😑.

And also, after doing that much work and putting that much effort
you actually deserve it!!
unless you are a robot 😑

So, give yourself rewards, and appreciate yourself for whatever you did.

But remember not to reward yourself for something which is counterproductive. For example: don’t eat a pound of ice cream if your vision is to lose weight.

So, I hope this blog helped you in some ways. If you liked this blog, give us a clap. If you loved it give us few claps 😐.

DO GOOD BE GOOD AND BE IN THE BEAUTIFUL PATH OF BUSINESS.
